Tooting Face Final Day Fight To Survive

Article by Official TMUFC

In a performance that encapsulated Tooting’s whole season, they handed the initiative in the fight for Bostik Premier League survival back to Burgess Hill Town yesterday afternoon, going down by a single goal at home to Harlow Town.

There was plenty of possession, plenty of effort and plenty of fight, but sadly no end product. A needlessly conceded free kick on 40 minutes followed by poor defending from the kick, allowed Harlow’s Alex Read to head home unmarked inside the 6 yard box to score the only goal of the game. Despite all the possession, in their efforts to break down a resilient Harlow defence, the best they could manage was an Omar Folkes effort that struck the crossbar ten minutes from the end.

The task next week is now quite clear. With Tooting and Burgess Hill, who have a far superior goal difference, now level on points, the Terrors must pick up more points on Saturday at Imber Court than the Sussex side do away at Harrow Borough. By 5:00pm next Saturday Tooting will know their fate.
