A Sutton United Front: Keep The Pressure Up

Article by Johnnie Lowery

So the promotion push continues, a strong second half performance tearing a surely relegation-bound Guiseley side apart.

I, along with many others I’m sure, didn’t think the first half performance was good at all so it was good to see such an improvement in the second half to push on when many other sides in this division would have looked to sit back on the one goal lead.

There was certainly a hint of fortune about some of the goals but when you put pressure on a side mistakes will come, and U’s got their full rewards on Saturday.

The games keep coming with Merstham visiting on Tuesday night in the Surrey Senior Cup – an opportunity for some of the players needing match fitness to get a game I’m sure.

This Saturday in theory sees Paul Doswell’s men head up to Halifax though the weather forecast for Friday and Saturday morning looks less than encouraging so keep an eye on that before travelling.

The Yorkshire club got a decent point at Eastleigh at the weekend to add to their 3 points from the Hartlepool game on Tuesday night.

Assuming the game does go ahead it will be a tough one no doubt, the Shaymen one of several clubs battling for survival towards the bottom of the table.

Based on Sutton’s recent away form though we should fear no one.

All we can do is keep the pressure up on the other top sides and see what happens come the end of April
