I’m not going to lie, I’m bitterly disappointed to go out of the Trophy at the last 16 stage but as Doswell said in his interview at least it eases the congestion a bit.
I’d love to see us play at Wembley one year – with the club in such a strong position currently you feel I visit isn’t too far in the grand scheme of things: it may even be this year in the playoffs of course.
I can’t help but worry slightly about the pitch situation though with no sign of an imminent logical approach from the powers that be.
Again, anyone watching the game on the bog of a pitch on Saturday must have a strange sort of logical and an incredible stubbornness to be against artificial pitches.
In the meantime though we’ve just got to keep on it, winning games and making sure we can force the issue with the EFL.
The next few weeks will be very tough with some ridiculous midweek trips across nearly the entire length of the country; Barrow one week followed by Torquay the next.
Full respect to anyone making both or indeed either of those trips.
It’s important to take into account the strain the players will be under when assessing performances in the next four games, especially with Wrexham and Dover battling for promotion and Torquay beginning to pick up as they fight for their lives.
Seven points would probably be considered a good return, but as ever I’ll travel confident of all 12.
