Well it’s fair to say Saturday wasn’t the greatest of days – personally I’d just made it into Barrow when the news came through that the game was off.
Surely anyone making that journey only to have it called off at such late notice can’t fail to see the benefits of 3G?
Barrow fans, and indeed fans of any other side having to travel to Sutton have assurances that they won’t face the same frustrations, yet still some people argue against the use of artificial pitches.
I for one simply cannot see the logic, especially with the state of the pitch at Lancaster City where the game did go ahead and a number of Sutton fans ended up.
You quite simply could not play football on the surface, even the Lancaster City FC twitter saying as much.
The argument that a good quality of football cannot be played on 3G I find simply bizarre, even more so after this weekend.
Rant aside, Lancaster were a lovely club and a good place at which to salvage the weekend.
Anyway, it’s back to action this weekend (hopefully) away at Brackley in the FA Trophy with U’s now only 3 ties away from a Wembley final.
There’s no doubt that despite their lower league status Brackley pose one of the toughest possible ties we could have had, and runaway league leaders Salford were soundly beaten there on Saturday.
Looking for a positive from this weekend it could turn out the extra rest we’ve gained this weekend might make the difference in what promises to be a tight game
