A Sutton United Front: A Job Well Done

Article by Johnnie Lowery

The performance and result on Saturday were both very satisfying, plenty of free flowing football reflected in a well-deserved 3-0 victory.

Yes we were playing opposition two divisions below us but it’s still never an easy task – look back at Burgess Hill a few years ago for example.

It’s nice to have a cup distraction away from the stresses of the league, and with U’s the highest ranked side left in the competition a Wembley appearance is definitely a possibility.

Personally I just want the lowest ranked side at home in the draw on Monday, though that’s not to say it’s a guarantee of success.

In the meantime league action resumes with a BT Sport appearance as Dagenham are the visitors to the lane on Saturday for an early kickoff.

With just one win in their last 7 Daggers aren’t in the best form, though they still sit only 4 points behind United in 8th place.

I imagine it will be a game with both sides looking to win it rather than seeing a visiting side playing for a point, which should make for an interesting game of football in front of a big crowd and an audience at home too.

Playing the way they are at the moment Paul Doswell’s men should be confident, especially with clean sheets starting to be added to our game as Dos highlighted himself in his interview after the Hendon match.

Defensive solidity is perhaps the one aspect slightly missing from our game this season, and now that’s starting to come in it could make all the difference.
