A Sutton United Front: A Chance To Learn From Mistakes

Article by Johnnie Lowery

I think we can put the performance and result on Saturday down to an extreme off day, realistically there can be no complaints about the result – I thought we were well beaten.

Admittedly the referee wasn’t much help, but that wasn’t the reason we lost and there can be no complaints about the penalty awarded early on.

One poor performance is not a call for a knee-jerk reaction but it is important to know where we went wrong.

From a supporter perspective it’s hard to analyse whether Orient were tactically better than us or if individual performances weren’t up to scratch.

Certainly I don’t think any more than one or perhaps two of our players performed above a 6 out of 10, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

Also give credit where it’s due to Orient who were much improved – as Doswell said after the game it does make you wonder what that side have been doing for the previous half of the season though.

There’s a week to get back into training and work on any weaknesses before the visit of Truro City in the FA Trophy on Saturday, the form of the Cornish side starting to dip slightly after a very good start to the season.

The Trophy is a nice break from the stress of the league – if you go out early it’s no disaster but a run to Wembley would be very nice indeed.

Whatever happens let’s just hope it doesn’t go to a replay!
